Host / Sponsor: European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department
Venue: Hong Kong Customs and Excise headquarter, 12/F, C&E Senior Officers’ Mess, 222 Java Road, North Point
You are cordially invited to participate in the Breakfast Seminar on “The Challenge of Transshipment in IPR Protection”, jointly organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (ECC), and Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) which will take place in Hong Kong on the 2nd of June 2015 at the C&E Senior Officers’ Mess of Hong Kong Customs and Excise headquarter in North Point.
The seminar focuses on transshipment, one of the hottest topics in cross-border enforcement. In many jurisdictions, ports are considered sacred, playing a pivotal role in domestic and global trade. This panel will take a closer look at the Hong Kong system where brand owners and law enforcement agencies have dedicated resources to fight counterfeits in transit.
Featuring presentations and an interactive panel discussion, this seminar will provide participants with valuable insight from participating experts on recent intellectual property rights protection and enforcement successes, challenges and outlook.
The following topics will be explored during the seminar:
- What's the status of goods in transit?
- How does the Hong Kong legal system define and address goods in transit?
- What challenges do brand owners and law enforcement agencies face while enforcing their IP rights?
- How have the law enforcement agencies and carriers equipped themselves in this battle?
This session will highlight some of the recent issues and trends and offer practical solutions for brand owners. Beyond developing, exchanging and expanding your knowledge on the above topic, this is a unique opportunity to build strong ties with local IP partners to create wide networks for IPR protection and enforcement.
We look forward to welcoming you at the seminar. You are requested to kindly confirm your participation by Wednesday, 27th May 2015, 6:00pm. Free entrance, mandatory registration, seats allocated on a first come first serve basis.
